J Sainsbury low cost dealing

A low cost dealing service has been arranged with Stocktrade which provides a simple way of buying or selling J Sainsbury shares.

Stocktrade, based in Edinburgh, is the execution-only division of Brewin Dolphin, one of the largest and longest established independently-owned private client investment managers in the UK.

This is a Telephone dealing service only, available for the purchase or sale of UK listed shares that are in certificated form. If you would like to open a Crest or Nominee account with us, please contact Stocktrade for more details as different charges/rates will apply.

If you are looking to deal straight away then Stocktrade can accommodate you, providing the following criteria is met:

  • You are a UK resident.
  • The shares to be traded are in your name and for a UK listed stock. Please ensure you have the share certificate(s) in your possession to allow you to confirm details of your shareholding(s).
  • You can provide your National Insurance Number and date of birth.
  • You successfully pass an electronic anti money laundering check which is undertaken over the telephone prior to dealing – See below.
  • All purchases must be paid for by Debit Card. Sale proceeds are remitted by BACS.

On completion of the first deal you will be sent a letter containing your Person Code which you will need for any future dealing you may wish to do with Stocktrade. You will also be sent an account opening form. This form should be completed and returned to us at your earliest convenience.

If your consideration was £20000 at 0.5% (up to £10000) and 0.2% thereafter you would pay commission of £70

Other transaction costs to be aware of are:

UK Stamp Duty is levied on all purchases at the applicable rate e.g. currently 0.5%.

Irish Stocks have Stamp Duty levied on all purchases at the applicable rate e.g. currently 1%.

Other Transaction Taxes may also be levied at applicable rates.

A £1 PTM (Panel of Takeovers and Mergers) levy is charged on all bargains over £10,000.

Online dealing

Online dealing is not available for Certificated accounts. However, once we have received your completed Account Opening Form, you can choose to manage your account online giving you the option to receive statements and contract notes electronically, and allowing you access to our online "Research Centre".

Confirmation of your identity

We have responsibilities under UK anti-money laundering legislation to confirm the identity and permanent address of our Clients. Where you are resident in the United Kingdom, we will undertake an electronic anti-money laundering check of the personal data you have provided. The check will be undertaken via a reputable referencing agency, which will retain a record of this check.

For those dealing from overseas
